West Elgin Infrastructure

Transportation, communication and utilities all play a vital role in the success of any company and West Elgin is well situated to provide easy access to transportation. Commercial and industrially zoned land is within easy reach of hydro and water services and some may have direct access to municipal sewers, while others can be serviced with septic systems or addition to the existing municipal service. Much of the commercial and industrial land is within two minutes of Highway 401, with some actually adjacent to the highway corridor

Located 2 & 1/2 hours west of Toronto and just 1 & 1/2 hours east of Detroit, and midway between London and Chatham, West Elgin is strategically located and enjoys speedy access to both the northern United States and points to the east in southern and eastern Ontario, and the province of Quebec.

      Highway Access

   401 passes through West Elgin only 2 minutes from either West Lorne or Rodney, making transportation of goods via liquid or dry bulk carriers both easy and speedy. Daily general freight carriers and small shipment parcel express carriers such as UPS, Canpar, Purolator, Canada Post, etc. all service the area. Border crossings at both Windsor/Detroit and Sarnia/Port Huron are easily accessible from the community

Access For Air Services

  Air service is available at either London or Windsor, with London being slightly closer. The London International Airport is a 45 minute drive from West Elgin and provides regularly scheduled service from London directly to Canadian cities of Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax as well as regular flights to the United States. In 2003, the airport authority launched a new terminal building which has the capacity larger aircraft and more international service in coming years. It is reputed to be the 12th busiest in Canada. The runway is designed to accommodate some of the largest aircraft in the world and is positioned on the outskirts of the city, making access easy and eliminating congested travel routes to the airport.

     Access By Rail

  Via Rail passenger rail service is available in Glencoe, just 15 minutes by car from any point in West Elgin. This  services is part of the Windsor-Montreal Corridor. From Glencoe, access to both London and Windsor passenger terminals is possible. VIA Rail Canada has recently upgraded the London terminal to meet the highest expectations of customer comfort, convenience and service and offers attractive new ticket counters, seating, washrooms, passenger platforms and parking.
